Creative expression from autumnal nature.
Over the last two weeks I've had the pleasure of creating another 6ft Square Sketchbook in collaboration with artist Simone Chester at our studio space in Digbeth.
We worked primarily with gourds, grapevines, pine cones, pomegranates and skeletal alium heads, searching out lines and forms and working diagonally across the the page to integrate our two styles of mark making.
The colours we chose to work with were dictated from the objects we used as inspiration, with fluid forms and movement evolving through the physicality of painting on a large scale.
We spent two sessions on this particular page, adding depth through drawn marks in oil and chalk pastel. Washes of drawing ink were applied on areas to enhance the previous layers of paint, and we were delighted with the results!
